Understanding Grief

Understanding Grief

by Dave Thurston

Grief: Disappointed, Unhappy, Upset, Dissatisfied, Discouraged, Tired, Loss, Misunderstood, Sick, Grieving, Lost, Heartbroken, Sorrowful, Distressed, Hopeless, Dejected, Hurt, Anguish, Agonised, Depressed, Devastated, Despairing.

Understanding Grief belongs to a four-part summary of the section ‘Engaging The Hardest Emotions’ that comes toward the end of the book “Untangling Emotions.” Those emotions are Fear; Anger; Grief; Guilt and Shame. Authors Groves and Smith and describes how each of these ‘hard emotions’ works within us and what we can learn from it and how to act in response to it. Understanding how to understand and respond to these hard emotions is part of the pathway to living as a mature person in Christ.
