Mentor Equipping Queensland

Mentor Equipping Queensland has been set up to expand the pool of Christian Mentors in Queensland. MEQ runs a three year course in Christian Mentoring based on the John Mark Ministries model of Christian mentoring. Each year comprises a residential workshop from Monday night to Thursday lunch which is currently held at the Lake Moogerah Retreat House and two one day workshops currently held at Living Church, Carina. This course is designed for Christian men and women who desire to develop a mentoring ministry or grow their proficiency in what they are already doing. It is expected that trainees will begin mentoring from the completion of the first workshop and the assignments assume that you have a mentoring relationship to reflect upon.

The course is run by Dave and Kathy Thurston, graduates of MEQ Extension and MEQ Sydney respectively, trained facilitators of the course and members of the Australian Christian Mentoring Network. The course is open to Christians of any denomination, with the next course planned to begin in May 2021.

"Now in my second year of the MEQ course, I have found the course to be valuable in growing and challenging me both personally and professionally. The course provides a structured model, that uses an action-reflection style of one to one mentoring that has paired wonderfully with my training as a counsellor.  The course continues to deepen my own personal spiritual formation and shape my philosophy of Christian ministry as I apply the principles and content that I have learnt.  This coupled with great support by Kathy and Dave Thurston has enabled me to delight in the training as I gain experience in Christian mentoring."
